At first glance, I liked the new Clever Chek meter. It’s aesthetically pleasing and presented (packaged) very well. Simple Diagnostics in Williston Park, New York, the sole North American distributor of Clever Chek brand products, launched the Clever Check here in August. TaiDoc Technology Corp...

I thought you were supposed to use alcohol to clean a test site.  I remember hearing that the alcohol doesn't interfere with the accuracy.  Where did you get your info on this?  I test a wet site all the time that has been alcohol swabbed.  I need to know the facts.  Appreciate your help.

    Dear Anne,

Like I usually try to do, I did cite my source. It's linked under the word "experts."

I hope this is the beginning, along with the RelyOn, of the price of metering coming down significantly. The Clever Chek as about 36 cents is 7 cents cheaper. And in turn the RelyOn was 57 cents cheaper than most others. Of course I don't know if my insurance company get a huge discount from One Touch.

This one seems to have better features than Ultra and other brands. I will give it a try. Does anyone know if it is covered by Medicare?

Reading the user manual, (see the company's website), it seems that storing a record of your tests is optional.  (It is not imposed upon you the way it is by other, paternalistic, manufacturers such as Lifescan.)

You prevent a test being recorded by pressing the button after the strip's in.  This is described in the manual as "performing a control test".  You can delete all current stored results as part of setting the date/units.

The fact that the strips are merely extremely expensive, rather than extortionately expensive, makes the thing even more attractive.

Forearm testing is very important to me and I am wondering about the Clever Chek's ability. I see that you said the food and drug Ad. approved it for this, but the site you provided for the meter doesn't list it as being able to, I was just wondering if you could clear up this confusion for me as it would be a much cheaper strip cost for me.

    Hi,

This meter is approved for alternate site testing. You can test from fingers, palms, forearms, upper-arms, thighs and calves.

Do you mean one can rotate around among those sites? Or does one have to stick with one of those for regular consistency for comparason? Other sites than finger tips would be handy when doing multiple tests daily.

Also are the meters and strips available in the US territories yet?

    Hi Jude,

    Availability:

Our products are available from many independent pharmacies, and online stores in USA.

    Alternate site testing:

Alternate site testing does help people who have to test 2-3 times a day and it can be painful.

I tested Clever Chek Autocode for my cat Lilly and it was much better and easier than Ultra.

It is acurate too. I showed the results to Lilly's vet and he is impressed too with the accuracy.
