By David Mendosa, Health Guide Sunday, January 20, 2008

David,

Interesting article. I was surprized though that there was no mention of AREDS (Age Related Eye Diseases Studies) sponsored by the National Eye Institute. http://www.nei.nih.gov/amd/ Based on these studies, my eye doc suggested the AREDS formula of vitamins and supplements for my early macular degeneration. A year later my AMD has not progressed and my vision had improved. Will you be doing an article on AREDS in the future?

Dear Jude,

Yes, I asked my doctor about that study. But he didn't have any comment. So thanks for reminding me. I will keep it in mind for a future article.

David

Thanks for this informative article.

I had some OCT on one eye last year and was fascinated by the process and amazed at the results. This gave my doctor a clear view of the retina at the center of my eye. Just amazing.

I'll have to ask them about the anti-VEGF drugs, in case something like that is needed at some stage in the future.
