Curing Erectile Dysfunction

Guys named Ed probably don't feel honored to have one of the most devastating complications of diabetes named after then. But erectile dysfunction -- or just ED for short -- is both personally ego-destroying and all too common. At least they don't say nowadays that ED is the same as impotence.From...

I read Dr Bernstein's book (2007 edition) and I don't recall any mention of 'anatomic' neuropathy, only sensory neuropathy and autonomic neuropathy. Is anatomic neuropathy a new one?

Thank you. I apparently misheard Dr. Bernstein (although there is such a thing as anatomic neuropathy, according to a review of the literature). After getting your message, I reviewed his book and see that he did talk there about autonomic neuropathy and not about anatomic neuropathy. So I just changed the article accordingly.

As a type 2 diabetic who's also had prostate cancer, I'm not sure you can always cure ED. I had my prostate removed by surgery. Unfortunately, because of the extent of the cancer, my surgeon was unable to save the nerves governing erections. I can get very limited erectile function with an injection, but the available oral pharmaceuticals have no effect. So it's no my diabetes that's the problem, but an absense of the necessary nerves. I doubt I'll live long enough for any regeneration.

Still, your advice should be encouraging for others whose ED is a result of diabetes complications alone.

Dear Peter,

Thank you.

I wonder if a pump would work in your case?

Thank you David, for pointing out some of the things that can help ED patients from a cure rather than a treatment perspective.  For those patients who still need help with treatments, particularly if their choice is injections, I would recommend using an injection device called Inject-Ease from Palco Labs.  While it was designed for use with insulin injections, many patients use it today for ED (same sized syringes).  If you have to inject, it should be easy and less painful if possible.

Thanks.

Thanks Ken.  I have overcome my ED with over the counter suppliments.  There are plenty out there, I started with a drug called "Rize 2 the occasion" that I found at my local vitamin shop.  The product I use now is just called "HARD."  The name alone screams "hukster" but I gave it a try and experienced fantastic results.  Check out their site at http://hard.njoynow.com
