I also struggle with periodontal disease. I also use a Sonicare, as does my diabetic husband. I have difficulty flossing as regularly as you do, but I'm always seeking improvement. I do wish that more diabetics understood that mouth care (including more frequent cleanings-I'd go every 3 months, use of a sonicare, and flossing) is an important component of good self-care for a person with diabtes. I love your blog, David!

For more efficient flossing try Floss N Toss by Omnii dental. 1800 445-3386. They are disposable flossers that make flossing easier in hard to reach places. David's Response: Thank you, Dr. Silver! I will check out Floss N Toss.

I'm surprised not more people use plain old toothpicks instead of flossing which is a lot more work. GSK have a product called Sensodyne Interdens which I can recommend.
