Questions For Diabetics: Are You Taking Care of Yourself?

Santa Cruz, California -- Shortly before I came back to California to cover the American Diabetes Association's Scientific Sessions in San Francisco from June 6 to 10, I had the opportunity to listen to talks by the endocrinologists in my town, Boulder, Colorado. Like the emphasis on obesity at this ...

It is not difficult to control your food input when you eat out.  However, it takes some amount of will power.  I find that many restaurants will give you a  portion of vegetables instead of starch.  The next part of the procedure is to look at your  plate and determine how much you really need to eat, and divide the portions accordingly.  Of course, the dessert is not ordered unless it is jello or something else lo-cal.  Cutting up your stomach is the last resort, but obviously at 300+ pounds, food controls their life.  I have read about people who have dieted and lost 100+ pounds.  The best way to not have a stomach operation is to keep your weight down to start with.  Then, you do not have to worry about the large amount of excess skin that will take plastic surgery to remove.

I go to a restaurant, and what are the obese people eating?  French fries, hamburgers with the works ( all that yummy calory laden sauce), hot fudge sundaes, etc.  I assume that at home they eat the same, plus they probably gorge themselves on potato chips, pretzels, doughnuts, etc while watching TV.  Tsk, Tsk.

And what about exercise?  Pushing yourself away from the table is not really exercise but it does help if it means you ate sensibly.  Join a gym, buy an exercise machine;  they are cheaper than stomach operations and other weight reducing tools will cost later, and treatment for diabetes, depression, and other obesity related illnesses.

I also see a lot of obese people eat "healthy" foods like pasta and rice, potatoes (no sour cream or butter of course), while cutting back on meat and other "unhealthy" foods...

Dear Christopher,

You are so right. Isn't it a shame that most people don't know what food is truly healthy!

How much weight have you lost now that you are following a really healthy diet?

You are absolutely true. It is probably a right solution to take over diet and some exercise cources to reduce weight rather than taking upon some surgeries.I came across many useful articles like "5 easy foods to slim by","exercise study" etc which are very helpful for reducing obesity in the following link. May be it is useful for the readers.
