David, I have been very fortunate to have been selected as a Face of Change for the Novo Nordisk exhibit.  It has been a great experience and a reminder to me and others that we can help control this disease with proper medication, diet and exercise.  Novo Nordisk is providing a great service for diabetics and others because of the education they provide and the free health screenings that are given at each exhibit.

David, Thanks for this wonderful post. Not only has your faced changed but your whole body has undergone transformation as you have added Byetta and hiking to your every day life. Your description of the hikes you have taken are testimony to your re birth of health. What  a difference you are making as you witness to what can happen even when people have had diabetes for many years. I know that Byetta is the single most important medication next to insulin in the history of diabetes. You are an amazing role model for the rest of us. May your tribe increase.  John PS: Do you know where the Novo traveling faces are going next?

    Dear Ballot,

Thank you for your comments! I will have to check with Novo Nordisk to see where the exhibit is going next. All I could see from the website is Tampa in April, but that seems awfully far off. I'll let you know what I find out.

    Best regards,

    David

    Dear Ballot,

Thank you again. My contact at Novo Nordisk has now informed me that the schedule of the exhibits for the rest of the year is

    • Chicago’s Navy Pier, 9/26-9/29
    • Atlanta’s Woodruff Park, 10/17-10/20

The exhibit will continue next year, but they haven't finalized the sites yet.

I corrected the schedule in my article accordingly.

    Best regards,

    David

Thank you David, for the wonderful change in you and for featuring it.  You look younger and definately much more fit.

The article is a good wake-up call for Type 1's as well.  Many Type 1's, including myself, are overweight and in my case developing "double diabetes."  I have taken insulin for 49 years and now Metformin, for 5 years, to increase my insulin senesitivity, to the artificial insulin, I'm taking.

Thanks for the wake-up reminder, to "move it and lose it."
