Those of us who have diabetes pay a physical cost for it that we know all too well. But many of us aren't aware of the social cost that we pay for being overweight, which usually accompanies our diabetes. Fat prejudice is even more subtle than our society's racial and gender biases and those agains...

One of the stores I shop at has a fair number of over weight and  less attractive people in the technical departments. The store (see South ParkLaughing) is also known for paying less. I quickly realized that those people tended to be the really sharp ones who could and were willing to answer all of my questions.

Great article! I have some down to earth questions about your weight loss, forgive me if you have touched on these subjects in other posts. Do you have a lot of loose skin and do you find your cognitive abilities improved with your lower carb and caloric intake?

Yes to both questions. I didn't think that I had a lot of loose skin, but my doctor noted it in his report on my most recent physical examination. It is, however, getting tighter with time and exercise.

My cognitive abilities do also seem greater. I am quicker with a comment to others, almost always positive as I try to be. My memory is better. I don't attribute all of this improvement to my very low-carb diet, because some of it could well be from my much higher levels of omega 3 fats from fish and omega 3 capsules. I even think my writing has improved!

    Best regards,

You say "The manipulated the same face" but I claim you meant "They ....".

If you or others here want to get a nitpicker's review of an essay about to be published, you may send me a copy with a subject like "Nitpicker's review requested". If I get lots and lots of requests, I may start to charge something, especially for the boring ones.
