Maybe some day I will question the advice of the American medical establishment to eat the 2.5 cups of vegetables that they say I should eat every day. Already I doubt the wisdom of eating starchy vegetables, peas, and beans, and avoid almost all fruit except avocados, green peppers, and lemons (in t...

    Hi David,

Have you heard of Juice Plus?  It provides whole food based nutrition from a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. It provides phytonutrients, antioxidants, and nutrients including some of the fiber from a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. The 4 suggested capsules per day  have <1 net carbs (1g carbohydrate and <1g fiber) each. You get all the phytonutrients without the carbs or calories of eating the whole fruit or vegetable.Smile

There have been multiple studies done on the product from all over the world. You can get some information on these studies at https://www.juiceplus.com/nsa/content/ClinicalResearch.soa

I believe you will be pleasantly surprised with what you discover.

I too am on JuicePlus (and VeggiePlus), which were referred to me by my nutrition/fitness-oriented family-MD. Recommend them heartily, but advise all who are on platelet therapy (I have been for 5 yrs) to check w/ their doc first. I'm a DM2, 62 yrs male.

Good question. I should have remembered to include the fact that he sells Greens First at his cost. It is indeed less than what I would have had to pay to the company or at amazon.com

    Best regards,

Why not make your own green veggie juice?

That way you can controll exactly what goes into it-

the greens, veggies etc. of your own choice.

It does require a bit of work- but a batch will last

weeks and you know for SURE what's in it!

Drinking veggies is nothing new to those of us living full or part-time in Spain, especially Andulusia, in southern Spain; Mijas, Malaga, in my case.  And the Virgin Islands during the winter.  My gazpacho, which I have almost every day...sometimes twice a day... consists of tomatoes, green peppers, cumcumer, oinion, garlic...with a touch of salt, cumin, and water.  And I like to add a piece of sourdough bread.  Doesn't get much better than this for "drinking your veggies!!"

Good idea to put greens in a smoothie.  What do you put in your smoothies if you make them?  I try to eat low carb.

Could you also post a sample daily meal plan that you eat?

Is homemade tapioca pudding sweetened with honey high carb?  I make it with organic milk.

    Dear Bev,

I'm sorry to say that tapioca pudding itself is very high carb, about 24 grams per 4 ounces, according to the USDA's database. I know that it tastes great, but...

    Best regards,

Thanks for checking that out for me.  Sure is difficult limiting carbs, but it can be done!

I drink Greens First daily.  I also think this is the BEST tasting and superior quality compared to other greens drinks on the market.  Greens First is only sold through Doctors.  I would recommend Greens First over an other greens drink

I absolutely agree. Except where you write that only doctors sell it. That's what my doctor told me too. But it's not true. I buy it for several dollars less on amazon.com

    Best regards,
