Research on Video Games that Help Teach Carb Estimation and Food Comparison Skills

By deshazo Tuesday, February 17, 2009

Hi everyone!

We are doing some 'healthy games' research at the University of Washington and one of the things we are working on is video games that help with nutritional estimation skills (e.g. how many carbs in that) and food comparison skills (e.g. which of these is lower..). Part of the development process involves a lot of user testing and feedback. This post is just about the mobile phone games, there are more sophisticated desktop games coming out as well.

This is the official invitation for folks to try out the mobile games:
University of Washington researchers would like your help in testing mobile phone videogames for diabetes nutrition education. You will be compensated with a $10 Amazon.com gift certificate for playing the games and completing a short 11 item questionnaire. Must be an adult with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes and have an iPhone or Windows Mobile 6 phone. No video game experience required. Call 206-616-7236 , email deshazo@u.washington.edu, or visit this webpage for details:

Please feel free to ask me any quesitons! I have really enjoyed this project.

Thanks,
Jon
