About Me

Most people tell you who they are by what they do for a living or which clubs they belong to, but I want everyone to know that I am so much more than that. I am a mother, a daughter, a granddaughter, a wife. I am a Christian. I am an advocate for free comprehensive diabetes education in the communities and in the schools. I believe that if you get information on diabetes into the hands of our children, they will get the information into the hands of their parents and grandparents who might otherwise ignore the symptoms of the disease until they have lost eyesight or have severe neuropathy. I would like to see better diabetes education and care for diabetes patients in our area hospitals - I feel the hospitals are doing away with diabetes education so that they can make more money on heart surgeries, stroke patients, and amputees. I feel that nursing personnel need monthly ongoing training for the care of diabetics. I am a voracious reader, a strictly amateur pianist, flutist, and trumpet player, I love to sing, I love to write poetry, short stories, and I have been writing a musical based on the movie "The Mothman Prophecy". Mothman is an area legend about a moth-like creature who was seen in the 1960's prior to the Silver Bridge collapse at Point Pleasant WV. The Ohio River community was the setting for the movie, and for a yearly Mothman festival. I write haiku about West Virginia that I laughingly call Hillbilly Haiku. I love West Virginia, my home between the mountains, and am intrigued with all things that are unique to my home state.
