A Diabetes Christmas Carol

By Beth McNamara, Health Guide Wednesday, December 16, 2009
Since having diabetes can be a big pain in the neck anytime, but particularly around the holidays, I thought it might be humorous to go on the offensive and add a "D" twist to an age old Christmas carol. And that's how we - my son, husband and me - came up with the following parody of The Twelve Days...

Well,  that parody was depressing.

Totally agree, not only for myself as a mother who has a 16 year who has Type1 but for my son as well who lives it every day and does not need another reminder about how difficult it is at this time of year. We do have a very good sense of humour, but this isnt funny at all !!!!

It is not all that bad. I guess it depends what type of Diabetes you have. I get through all holidays without any trouble. Just watch what Ieat, and do it in moderation. I try to eat healthy anyway. Also I am only borderline. So I decide to do something about it before it get blown out. I eat pumpkin for my carbs. use Splenda to make my pies. I did purchase a Fruit cake and intend on having a piece. Full up on vegetables.

These holidays are not about food. You have to eat no matter what day it is.
