Blood Sugar Control At Work

Gina Capone Health Guide
  • This past August I was laid off. So I took that opportunity to get my sh*t together. I managed to make an appointment with my doctor, nutritionist and CDE. Even followed up with phone calls, emails of blood sugars and food logs. I was back on track with everything doing great, and feeling good.

I was able to get a job pretty quickly, luckily. Monday was my first day. Sunday night I set up the ol' work back with all of my extra supplies, made sure I had strips for my blood meter, snacks for the trip to work and home in case of a low blood sugar got my lunch  ready and I was all set for the first day back! I was excited. Especially that I had gotten myself on a nice schedule with eating and testing my blood sugars throughout the day. I was prepared and ready.

Today is day 3 of work, and my blood sugars are already suffering. This job is VERY busy. I already forgot to eat until 2pm on Tuesday, and a couple of times I forget to bolus for lunch and correct a high.

What happened to my schedule? I have no idea. But, I am going to try my hardest not to go into that downward spiral of bad habits again. Not now when my A1c just got better!

How do you all manage your diabetes at work? Any tips on remembering to test and bolus during a busy work day?
