The Struggles Exercising with Diabetes and Low Thyroid Function

Gina Capone Health Guide
  • I have been going to the gym pretty much 3-4 times a week for over a year now, and for over a year it has been a struggle almost every time I step foot inside the gym.

I try my best but, It is  either I go low or too high. The lows went away for a while but, they are back. I am taking in all these extra calories everytime I have a low blood sugar. Some days I am going low 4 times in a row. My CGM beeps all day long. Low blood sugar, low blood sugar. BEep bo bop, Beep bo bop. Low blood sugar.

The thing that bothers me the most is that I am staying the same weight and even gaining. Having low thyroid function does not help this situation. I was diagnosed with an overactive thyroid a couple of years ago and then had to take a radio active iodine to slow my thyroid down, and now it is an underactive thyroid. So back in August, my doctor saw that my thyroid was going overactive again so he lowered the dose of meds and I just had my blood test and now its under again. So guess what that means, I gained 4 pounds since last visit.

Is anything I do enough? Can something just go exactly how I picture it in my head? I am sick of trying so hard at everything, and it ending up in complete disappointment. I honestly feel like a complete failure and think that nothing is going to go right for me.

I have learned to accept this annoying disease, but there are always the bad days where I just want to be the way I was before I was diagnosed with all this crap. I need a mental break and a diabetes vacation. Calgon take me away!

I am sick of diabetes and my thyroid problem today. Maybe tomorrow will be better.
