I got a box of  IV 3000 tape a couple of weeks ago to keep my CGM in place. It tends to bounce around without it.   I really think that it is a defective box or something because every time I take a shower the tape bubbles up and starts peeling off like snake skin.  So, I procee...
  1. Gently Remove Old Tape Before Putting on New

Gently remove old IV-3000 tape Before putting on a new IV-3000 tape patch.  I hold a finger over the sensor edge going into my skin while removing the tape to make sure I don't pull the sensor while removing the tape.  If your tape has weakened due to water, it should come off easily enough.  Then I make sure the area is dry and clean Before applying the new IV-3000 tape.

Gina, a question for you to elaboarte on in public or private:  The photo looks like your sensor is in on the side of your back.  How do you reach around and apply it there?  I put it on about the same place on my front, but would like to use the back also so I have more rotation sites!

Also, are you aware all or most Diabetes Educators say you can use the Medtronic Sensor for 7 days?  When it says Sensor End, without removing the old sensor, select "New Sensor" on your pump.  Instead of waiting the full 2 hours like it warns you, it will wait about 5 minutes then say "Check BG Now."  I've been doing this for the last year and a half, works great.

The sensor is in the front... like on the side of my stomach. I do use the sensors for more than 3 days usually 7. But like I said in my post because I had no tape with me and it started falling out and was pinching and hurting so I had to remove it. If you look in the photo you can see it started falling out. Its totally sideways.

I use the IV3000 over my Sure-T infusions sets 24/7. I have only had the problem you are describing once. Here are a few things I would check. Make sure the box is not expired - which hopefully is not true since you just got it. When I had my trouble, it wasn't actually the tape it was me. I had switched soaps to one that was more mosturizing (because it was winter) and I guess it left a residue that the tape would not stick to. Hope this helps!

I have been using the same soap. Dove. Never had a problem before. I just don't think the tape has any stickiness or something. It is really weird.

I've never been able to get IV3000 to stick to me for more than a few hours - but I think that is just my skin! Since it sounds like IV3000 has worked for you before, this obviously isn't your issue. I do agree with Sara's tip though - cosmetic products can change the stickiness of skin.

There are two similar tapes on the market - Tegaderm and Opsite Flexfix - which I've had greater success with and would urge you to consider if the problem continues. I've come across lots of other CGM users who don't get on with IV3000 but love Flexfix. Flexfix is also available in a roll, so you can cut the right size piece to cover the site without having to get the angle perfect. This in itself is often a cause of peeling - if the edge of the tape only just reaches to the skin as it comes down over the bulge of the Minilink, it won't tend to last past a shower.

The only other tip I have is to ensure you cover the IV300 firmly with your hand for a full minute after applying it, as the warmth seem to help things stick better.

Just wondering if you clean the entire area with alcohol (and then let it dry) before you put the IV3000 on?  Also if you use two IV tapes (one horizontal and one vertical) you are less likely to get water under the tape which can cause the lifting. Hope this helps!!!

I put both pieces of IV3000 tape vertically over the sensor/transmitter, and like you clean the area with alcohol (and let dry). Starts curling up at the corners after a few days, but have had it last as long as 6 days without having to completely change the dressing.

I had the same problem. I thought it was me. I have had my CGMS for about 3 weeks. This happened when I openned the new box they sent me. I actually had 3 tapes on - such a waste.

What kind of answer did Metronic have?
