In January I was laid off from my job for a second time in a year.  If you have never been laid off before, I can tell you from experience that it truly is the worst feeling in the world. It's like you aren’t good enough, and they got rid of you because, well to put it bluntly, that you ...

    Gina,

I really liked this blog post, as I too have been laid off. Since August. my schedule is also wonky, there are some days i'm staying up until 2am and not up until noon. having a job really structures our days and then we follow that up with better diabetes care.

i really liked your schedule. i'm going to start following it, and i'll let you know how it goes.

i don't really get depressed, i start house cleaning, cooking and baking. what has been harder for me while i've been laid off is that by cooking and baking from scratch I've had a hard time knowing what the carb counts in things are, and do more guestimating.

I think by following the schedule you are suggesting for yourself, i'll be eating less, and more able to keep my sugar swings in check!

hope we both find jobs soon!

I am a teacher, and while I am blessed to still have a job (teaching is one of those professions which usually isn't affected by a recession or depression), I am off on breaks for long periods of time.

During these periods, my schedule is off, also.  It helps if I try to follow the same schedule or closely thereto as I did when I was having to be somewhere in the morning.

I know how you feel.  Lots of times, I pay for that extra sleep by waking up either really high or really low.

Good luck in your job search, Gina!  That stress can't be pleasant and probably affects your blood sugars, too.
