About Me

Dr. Woodby is an author,  Clinical Pharmacist, and Certified Diabetes Educator with over fifteen years of specialized experience. This experience has centered on helping physicians provide quality care, and helping patients achieve health goals. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree in 1991 and began working with the Department of Veterans Affairs - recently touted as one of the most advanced health-care systems in the nation by Harvard University, NBC, and CBS; as well as several print media outlets including TIME, Fortune, Business Week, & US News and World Report. Certain clinical pharmacy specialists in this system are given great clinical responsibility including prescribing privileges and he has enjoyed this practice setting for many years. Garren has worked with patients in both the classroom, and in office settings where he would perform physical assessment, order & review labs, prescribe, change, and discontinue medications, and follow up patient progress at subsequent visits. It is perhaps the highest level of clinical involvement a pharmacist can reach and he has been blessed to experience its challenges and rewards for the majority of his career.

While he has helped patients in a variety of areas such as drug information, hypertension, cholesterol, hypothyroidism, polypharmacy and anticoagulation, he found his calling while working with those struggling with diabetes. Garren is a nationally Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) and has had thousands of patient encounters dealing with this disease. He is also a requested public speaker on the topic of diabetes. His passion for helping those having diabetes is clear to see, and has now led to the creation of this new mode of service; Diabetes Life Coaching.

At age 42, Dr. Woodby has been very happily married to his wonderful, lovely wife Penny for 16 years. They are active in their local church where he serves as a deacon. They are so blessed to announce the birth of their first child this past December 2006. A beautiful little girl named Grace.
