Just tooting my horn today

I am very excited and want to toot my horn!

Its offical that I now have lost 28.5 pounds since June 1st and the best news is that my A1c was 5.3 when my blood work was taken on December 6th.

I started Byetta on June 1st and have great success with it.  I was taking 10mg of Glipizide twice a day before breakfast and dinner. My medications have been tweaked again and I now take:

5mg Glipizide in the morning before breakfast.

10mcg Byetta twice a day, before breakfast and dinner.

1000mg Metformin twice a day, after lunch and dinner.

I have found Byetta controls my carb cravings (bad carbs).  I only experienced nauesa at the inital dose.  I am so pleased with my progress and I do watch what I  eat and walk.  I can only do between 120 to 140 carbs a day.  I do want to continue loosing weight.

I still am having problems with high blood pressure.  It was running 180/90 in February.  Since June is has been running around 140/78 at my doctor visits. I take Benicar 40/25. I am very close to being normal and will continue to make lifestyle changes.

Well everyone have a great day!

... without losing muscle.

The key is eating less, down to the optimal amount, to become healthier than ever.

Good for you, myjoy2go!  That's great.

By the way, what is Byetta?  Is that a weight loss product?

Hi myjoy2go!

What great news!! Glad to hear your A1c is down and your weight is coming down as well!!

I have to admit that I have been prescribed Byetta but have not begun to take it yet. I am a bit of a weenie with the needles, but hearing all of the stories here online, I am getting my nerve up to start. Once I start, I think I will be ok to go and I have a lot of weight to lose.

Stay in touch and let us know how you are doing!!

I thought I would add that I now have lost 36 pounds. Big Grin

I would like to loose 30 more but if I don't just having my blood sugar in control has been wonderful.
