I thought I would stop by and toot my horn:

I have been on Byetta for 1 1/2 years and I am doing great!

My A1c on 12/9/08 was 5.5 and my BP was 128/68

I now have lost 48 pounds - it is slow coming off but I do know I have to work on more walking.

In September 2008 my total cholesterol was 138

LDL 59

HDL 39

Trigs 199

I am starting Lovaza/Omacor and see if that will get the trigs down and HDL up.  I do watch what I eat and count my carbs.

I had a heart stress test in September and passed.

I had a carotid ultrasound and everything was OK.

In the carotid study it revealed that I had three cysts on my thyroid.  My endocrinologist did an ultra sound on the thyroid and only found on on the right side which he was concerned about it at this time and will recheck it in six months.  My thyroid blood work always is normal - my mom had a goiter at the age of 18 and her whole thyroid was removed in 1942.

I am taking 2.5 mg of Glipizide 2x day and 1,000 mg of Metformin 2x a day, Byetta 10 mcg 2 x a day except on Sunday 1 time.  Sundays are the hardest day of the week for me as I only get in 2 meals, I do breakfast, and I have a medium sized meal around 1 to 2 and a snack in the evening after church.

Well everyone have a fantastic Christmas and a fabilous New Year!

God Bless,

Monica
