Yesterday, my brother, a lawyer who is the type of guy who tries anything at least once, sent me an e-mail about the new "desk treadmills". You know, those contraptions which let you walk on a treadmill while you are trying to wrok. Right. On top of trying to stay abreast of about 100 e-mails from coworkers and well-meaning and supposedly better-informed "managers", I am also now supposed to walk/run at a good clip, juggling a cup of latte, while I type away. It's kind of absurd. But then, I began to think. I really have to find a way to force more activity into my day, somehow, some way. Walking is the best way to ensure that I'll be on this earth another 20 years, according to studies, and those who walk fast live longer than those of us who stroll. So, I know, I know, I need to walk more, if for no other reason than walking lowers blood sugar after about 30 minutes. I think the best solution is to walk on my lunch hour. So, with that in mind, I am starting a lunch hour walking group. Wish me luck!
