Prodigy Diabetes Care, LLC donated $14,000 worth of diabetic supplies to Charlotte Rescue Mission (CRM), in response to a recent Charlotte Observer article detailing CRM's critical need of supplies for its clients struggling with diabetes. These products, including blood glucose monitors, test strips, lancing devices, lancets, carrying cases, and control solution, will enable CRM clients to effectively manage their disease and will result in a significant cost savings to the organization.
Prodigy®, headquartered in Charlotte, NC, distributes blood glucose meters equipped with unsurpassed accuracy and ease of use. Their ability to create innovative, affordable products has brought an assortment of success, and the owners of Prodigy® wanted to give back to their receptive community. Rick Admani Abulhaj, Prodigy's Chief Operating Officer, explains, "After receiving a Proclamation from the city of Charlotte for Excellence in Business Development, I realized how our community truly supports local businesses, and I felt the need to show our appreciation. When I became aware of the Charlotte Rescue Mission's need for diabetic supplies, I knew this was the perfect time to help."
For over 70 years, the Charlotte Rescue Mission has played a vital role in helping men and women caught in the cycle of homelessness, poverty and chemical addiction. Due to long-term addiction, many of CRM's clients struggle with chronic health issues, including diabetes and high blood pressure. "I am proud to help the Charlotte Rescue Mission, especially after learning of all the wonderful things they are doing for our city. As a diabetic, I understand the complications of the disease, as well as the associated cost for supplies, and I hope our products help the Mission as much as they have helped our community," Ramzi Abulhaj, Prodigy's President explains. E.J. Underwood, Director of Development for the Charlotte Rescue Mission, explains, "We are grateful for Prodigy's donation and we are confident their supplies will help us significantly improve the health of our clients."
