Living in the Zone diet

By Serge Wednesday, February 25, 2009

I was diagnosed with diabetes 2 on Feb 10th,  was given a one touch ultra mini tester and asked to test myself before and after every meals and keep track of my readings.  I had another blood test at the doctor that day and the doctor said he would put me in touch with professionals, once he knew what the blood results were.

For the first 10 days, I avoided sweets and ate smaller portion of healthy food (no junk or white flour) and my readings started at 7.3(130) and fluctuated between 5.3(95) and 8.1(145)

I had heard of Dr Barry Sears  "the Zone"  before, so I went on the internet researched it and ordered books from the Library.

I started on the Zone Feb 20th, measured myself and calculated I should eat 7 blocks a day.  It was touch and go at the beginning but for the last 4 days I managed to stay between a low of 4.6(85) a high of 6.3(110) with one high of 9.0 when I over ate spagetti.  I have been faithfull doing one hour of threadmill at 2 MPH daily.

I have ordered refined fish oil tablets and will start taking those as soon as they arrive.

I am curious to find out how Am I doing.

In my mind I am doing great because I feel good.  Anyone care to comment or suggest anything else.  I need some encouragement.

I have been on the zone diet for two weeks now.

I am glad to report that for the last 7 days  my blood sugar have been steady at between 4.4(80) and 5.6 (100) with 1 high of  6.0(110?)

The previous 7 days were  hit and miss as I was learning my proportion and calculation

It worked for me, right from the beginning.

Hopefully my doctor will tell me,  I only have to  blood sugar test myself a couple times a day as long as I remain in the low ranges.  Oh yea, I lost 3 pounds without even trying.  I am real happy with myself.
