MODY diabetes

Good morning: MODY(mature onset diabetes of youth) diabetes is a genetic form of diabetes that often presents like type 2 diabetes and may or may not require insulin at different times of one's life. Often one sees a family history which might make one suspect the possibility of MODY Diabetes. There are genetic tests that can be sent to labs such as ATHENA that can diagnose the most common forms of diabetes.
One can also check for the presence of GAD-65 antibodies to see if there is any autoimmunity associated with type 1 diabetes.
It is not uncommon to see insulin production even two years after diagnosis (honeymoon period).
I hope this information has been helpful.

I would like to clarify: the genetic tests sent to Athena labs will diagnose the most common forms of MODY diabetes.
