A Long Life with Type1

By Annette Richardson Monday, October 08, 2007

I get angry reading or hearing only the real bad "things" about diabetes, and I feel bad for children.. this can scare them so much!

The complications can and do happen to many diabetics but there are thousands of us that have lived very long lives with it and have no complications.. I am in my 50th year with Juvenile-Diabetes and whenever possible try to introduce myself to children with it and their parents. Just to let them know .. and see.. the 'other' side of the story. I want to yell it out ..... "THE OTHER STORY"

Thank you for your welcome Krystle :)

Here is something about my 49 years with juvenile-diabetes. [I am a wepage novice lol] I have done so much with and in my life .. by ruling my diabetes .. not letting IT rule me!

Including emigrating to America all on my own right after my 21st birthday.

I just want to scream at how great life can be with any type of diabetes.

Hi Annette,

I appreciate witnessing the wisdom and strength of someone who has lived with diabetes for 50 years!  That's the goal for all of us type 1 diabetics... only 36 years to go for me!

Hi Kelsey ...well in 36 years you and I can talk about and celebrate your 50 years with JD!!  Remember me okay?

It is not an easy life .. a 24/7 investment for us all ...but ...I have found laughter to be my first and best free non-toxic drug of choice .. then of course.. comes insulin ;)

There are thousands of us that have survived from the archages with Type 1 ..its just they are never portrayed in magazines, television ads.. I often think a dozen of us should appear on Oprah!!! Just to show the positive side.

Chin up and do the best you can..I would truly like you in my 'club'

Regards ..  ~Annette~

The cure is coming!!!
