Annoying Questions Diabetics Face

By Gretchen Becker, Health Guide Wednesday, July 11, 2007
[Humor] Why is it that we always think of the clever retort to some comment the next day, or the next week, or the next year? Never at the right time.  One of my favorite examples is a short story by Roger Angell, in which a man with this problem thought of a clever thing to say about the Engl...

Thanks for thinking of this stuff ahead of time.  I really need to use something different.  Relatives think I've turned into a werewolf I growl so much.

The Brooklyn Bridge timeshare line _will_ get used!  Thanks Gretchen!

Nice one Gretchen! Those annoying questions really start getting to a person after a while - I'll be sure to stock up on great replies!

I often got questions such as 'are you allowed to eat this' or 'is this food suitable for diabetes' etc, and I'd give a nice little speech about how D is all about balance, not giving up sugars but using them wisely to match what my body needs, blah blah blah... Nowadays I just say "yes" to everything - they're not listening or learning anyway!!

So now Im moving on to phase three - the cheeky remarks. Maybe I'll have more luck getting away from those annoying questions, or at least teaching people to shuddup unless they know what they're talking about!

HAHAHAHA--These are great. I was going to write one about the questions I get all the time as a college student with diabetes and they're are actually a few different ones. I love your response to "How can you give yourself a shot when it hurts?"

Excellent! The other day I was being told what diabetes is by a co-worker (who was wrong and continued to disagree with me when I told him so) and I solved the issue by smiling and leaving the room :)

You should do something about the comments college students get. We all have a slightly different viewpoint, and mine is mostly that of an older type 2.
