One thing I hear over and over again in the media is that people with type 2 diabetes just need to make a few "lifestyle changes" and they'll be cured.   Well, I'd love to be cured, so I sat down and tried to figure out how I could change my lifestyle, which is now pretty dull.   First ...

Gretchen, you continue to inspire me! I will make a lifestyle change like those you tried. But your problem is that you didn't go far enough. You and I both need to be much younger. I am leaving tomorrow in search of the Fountain of Youth.

Thanks for a much needed laugh today!

So true.  There are so many "health" phrases which have become cliches due to over use by the media.  We assume everyone knows what they mean but in a lot of cases it isn't very clear.

You had me going...I really thought joining a motorcycle gang would cure diabetes.  Will it cure my MS too?

Great post

MM, I think the motorcycles would cure everything. When you're 6 feet under, you probably don't have any diseases at all. That would even  cure the common cold.

Have you seen Dr. Terry Wahl's TED Talk about treating MS by tending to your mitochondria? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLjgBLwH3Wc)?

Excellent post. Can't stop laughing! Prehaps, laughter is the best medicine.

You did not cure your diabetes but made us all laugh.

Thanks, Subrata. Wish I could cure you all, but I guess I'll have to settle for a little laughter.

Hilarious!  I enjoyed your post.  This reminds me so much of Erma Bombeck's writing!  Any suggestions for an alternate to Lifestyle Change?

Maria, Thanks. Is your question serious?

I realized you meant alternative terms. I first thought you meant alternatives to diet and exercise changes, like drugs.

I'd say exactly what one is talking about. Changing quantity of food? Quality of food? Increased exercise? Different types of exercise? Or you could say "nondrug treatments."
