Friday, January 16, 2009 at 11:51 AMThanks. It is said that laughter is great medicine, but seriously...
I think I could frame that suggestion to "crack down on big pharma" (#8). It even has a certain punny ring to it. I'd love to see this govenment giving those chemical "rapists" a dose of their own medicine. And when they go under, we ban the notion of "bail out" simultaneously!

Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 09:11 AMI think that people with high blood presure should be able to get better service when comes to health insurance .Buying every month cheap generic medication dosent' effect any changes in improvment. My insurance cover mostly generic if I wana have a brand I need to pay $75 a month what I cant' afford .Using generic I still have a high blood presure for couple years and I damage my hearth .

Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 09:42 AMHave you found that the brand names work any better than the generics? They're required by the FDA to contain the same active ingredients. The generic ACE inhibitors like lisinopril are pretty cheap, and they protect your kidneys. They do pretty much the same thing as the more expensive ARB medications like Captopril. The only problem with the ACE inhibitors is that they make some people cough.
Some of the diuretics like generic Lasix work pretty well.
Of course there are brand-name medications that don't have generic equivalents. Is that what you mean?
If you really can't find anything but a $75 a month medication that reduces your BP, spend the money. In the long run, $75 is cheap compared with the costs of dealing with the damage that high BP can cause. If you smoke, stop doing that. Cut back on salt. Try to lose weight if you need to. In other words, do whatever you can to get your BP down and you'll be better off in the long run.
If you really need the $75 medication and you simply can't afford to buy it, get in touch with the manufacturer. Many of them have programs to provide free medications to low-income people.

Friday, March 20, 2009 at 08:28 AMI'm afraid I don't know what "top roman" is. Some people are sensitive to salt and others are not. The only way to find out if you are is to give up salt for a bit and to see if it affects your blood pressure.
If the ACE inhibitor makes you cough, ask your doctor about an ARB.
Most cold medicines contain decongestants, which can make blood glucose increase, so it's good to avoid them when you can. Try a plain antihistamine instead.
I'm not a doctor and even a doctor can't prescribe for someone on the basis of information given online. So I can't tell you which medications would be best for you. Your doctor would take your medical history into account when prescribing.
You could do an Internet search for high blood pressure to get some tips for ways to reduce it, taking into account that you need to tailor the suggestions for someone with diabetes, meaning eating lots of fruits and starchy vegetables would likely not be a great idea.

Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 10:39 AMGreat suggestions. I would also add he should outlaw aging. That would greatly reduce the incidence of most diseases (type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and cancer included), and we would even be less wrinkly!
Seriously, it is somewhat frightening that so many people believe a politician can solve all the world's problems and that government is responsible for taking care of us.
