First of all, I am so glad I found this group! My name is Donna. I am type 2 diabetic going on 6 years come July. I was first diagnoised (sp?) while at a hospital with my Mom. Her husband was having surgery and I stayed to keep Mom company. I had not been feeling well for a while, but didn't know why?
While sitting with Mom I started sweating terribly, I felt like I was in a fog, and I couldn't hear what people were saying to me~as I felt confused. My heart was beating so fast that I thought I was having a heart attack!
Mom ran me down to the ER. in a wheel chair and got a hold of a nurse. Next thing I was seeing a Dr. who said I was a diabetic? I couldn't get my head wrapped around what he said. He told me my sugar was close to being in the 400's. He gave me an insulin shot that would lower it till I could see my Dr. This happened on a Saturday. By Monday when I went to see my Dr. he also told me I was a diabetic. I was so devastated & upset and scared. I didn't want to believe that I had diabeties.
I was put on Glucophage and Actos. and I am still on them. I also found out that I had high blood pressure. So now I take 2 meds for BP and thank God it has worked so well.
For many years before I was diagnoised my husband Mark and I were going to see every back Dr. we could to find out why my feet were burning and hurting all the time. I also told the back Dr. of my feet twitching and jerking and that it did that on it's own.I also told him that it hurt to even lay my feet on our sheets without being painful. He assured me it was from my back, but it wasent.
My Dr. told me I had undiagnoised Diabeties for many years. That was why the neuropathy was so bad.
So now I have Neuropthy completely in my feet. I have no feeling in them at all. It feels weird as it feels to me like I am caring around dead weight. In the last yr or so both my legs and finger tips have neuropthy as well.
I am 44 till June 28th when I turn 45 Ü. I am married to a wonderful and amazing man Ü. Mark and I have been together for 27 years and married for 25 of those years. We have two wonderful grown children.
Our son is also named Mark. He is 25 and married to a beautiful young lady. They have blessed us with our first two grand babies! Sarah who is four and Katie who is 3. It is so wonderful to be a grandma Ü.
Our beautiful daughter Brittany is 22 and still at home. I home schooled Brittany for 10 years. She graduated in 2005. I truly miss home schooling.
We are all animal lovers. Our Chihuahua's name is Laci Ann and she's 11 yrs. old. Then we have our English Springer Spanile that was homeless at 9 weeks old. She has brought so much love and happiness to us Ü. Bella Rue is 10 yrs old. Bella got pregnant from a German Shepherd right when she turned a yr old. She had 12 perfectly beautiful pups, and they all look just like their dad! We have one of her puppies and her name is Abigail Lynn. And then we have a Cockatiel named Prissy who is 8 yrs old.

Hi Laura Ü,
Thank you also for the warm welcome to the group. I can't believe I have finally found a wonderful group of people, that I can share my experiences and fears about diabetes. I also look forward to helping others as well, with what I have learned since being a diabetic.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Blessings~Donna
