Byetta

Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at 04:26 PMDear Lucky,I have been using Byetta since February 2006. For me it has been a miracle drug in terms of losing weight. Some people have nausea when they use Byetta, but I was forewarned and ate less from the first, so I didn't get sick to my stomach.

Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at 04:44 PMThank you for writing me back, I just started Byetta Yesterday and so far I have thrown up 5 times, and I can't be far from a bathroom (to put it politely). I had a HORRIBLE Migraine all night long and I have felt flu like symptoms. I am overweight, (the reason why I am taking Byetta) and I am dying to lose the weight so I think I am going to have to just deal with the side effects. Again thank you for responding

Wednesday, September 05, 2007 at 02:31 AMI wa diagnosed diabetic three years ago , type II then last year type I (went through the regimen of metformin/glucogen...lost weight (from 210-160) but climbed to 170 now doc wants me to be at very least 150 (55 year old female. started totally on insulin (long acting at night) short acting after meals...test three times a day...wasn't losing wt and A1C also @ 10+. so Dr. prescribed byetta to go with insulin..in july/august (started with 5mg) twice daily..stomach ached felt full uncomfortable...had daily headaches flu like symptoms lost 5 lbs...was lethargic...but fought through it..then after three weeks went to 10mg twice daily and was always headachy, felt sick...stopped after two weeks as i couldn't function...want to go on 5mg again but pen injects 10 plus i need to work with all my faculties...so waiting for next dr. apt in sept. disappointed as my cravings for carbs and larger portions are on the increase. am still debating if byetta is right for me as i didn't like the feeling of uncomfortable fullness. i'd like it without the headaches and lethargy that i got...may try other combinations as my sugars are still in the 2-3 hundreds..often w/ eating many carbsre: byetta

Sunday, November 11, 2007 at 03:39 PMI just started taking the 10mg of Byetta but I'm having severe drops in sugars within an hour of taking it. I mean down to 40-50's. Then it takes over 2 hours to get it back up and I feel like dying the whole time. I've stopped the byetta until I see my dr. I also take 15mg of glyburide a day and 45 mg. of actos. Any suggestions.

Wednesday, May 06, 2009 at 08:55 AMHello,
I used Byetta for at least a year. I never got sick from it. I also never lost any weight while taking it either. Initially the Byetta worked very well for me. Over time it seemed that I became immune to it. The Byetta just stopped working for me. So I stopped taking it.
I stopped taking all prescription drugs and have much better control of my health with Diet ( Atkins ) and Exercise ( Bicycle and walking). On meds my A1c was 6.9 . With diet and exercise it is 5.4 . Other problems with Byetta: expensive, effect on Pancreas .
