Editor's note: For every day in January 2008, we'll encourage you to keep your New Year's Resolutions by giving a diet and fitness tip of the day from our dietitian, Heather Reese.

Instead of buying the full-fat, full-sugar versions of your favorite foods, try the lowfat, fat-free or sugar-free varieties. This way you can enjoy the foods you love without all the added calories. Remember that fat-free and sugar-free foods still have calories so you still need to monitor portion size.

Tip #1: Avoid Skipping Meals

Tip #2: Beware of Juice and Soda

Tip #3: Walk it Off

Tip #4: Slow Down

Tip #5: Take a Seat

Tip #6: It's Sweeter When You Share

Tip #7: Size Matters
