I often have difficulty sleeping.  I take a sleeping medication called Ambien.  I think that sometimes when I take this medication I do things that I can't remember.  Once, I ate my roommates animal crackers and don't remember eating them.    Yesterday, after waking up I discovered 3 empty containers of yogurt at my bedside.

I also take Ambien. I started 10 years ago when my mother was dying. I used it 4-5 nights a week .5 mg until 2 years ago, when I started using Desaryl instead. It's an anti depressant with a side effect of sleepiness. One night I decided to try Ambien again. It was late and I couldn't afford to be grobby the next day. So,I took my regular dose. I woke up around midnight and literally staggered to the refrigerator. At the time, I knew something was "off" because I couldn't even stand up without leaning on the refrigerator. I ate and went back to bed. The next morning, I saw the food containers on the counter. I remembered eating some pudding, but I didn't remember finishing the whole pint! To my horror and surprise, there was the jar of peanut butter and bread on the counter. I did not remember eating that. I have an eating disorder so this scared the **** out of me. I wrote to my Psych MD about the side effects, and needless to say, have not used Ambien since. This was the first and the last time that will happen.
