I just saw my doctor last week. She said that she has not prescribed Byetta yet to any of her patients. I am going to see her again in 6 weeks and she said that she will be referring me to an Endocrinologist about the possibility of starting on Byetta. My hemaglobin A1C was very good. And my cholesterol was good, except my HDL (good cholesterol) should be higher. I take Zocor for my cholesterol and she suggested eating oatmeal. She said the oatmeal may help increase my HDL. I'm hesitant about eating too much oatmeal because of the carbohydrates so I am taking 3 - 4 grams of oatbran each day. Still trying to stay motivated with increasing exercise. Began taking long walks with my girlfriend. I can remember years ago that I used to be much more active. I'm thinking about looking into joining a hiking club. But, I seem to have difficulty following through with things. I suppose people are creatures of habit. Making lifestyle changes can be difficult. I quit smoking 2 years ago and gained about 30 pounds. After gaining the weight, I went from prediabetic to insulin dependent diabetic. I'm not sure why I'm writing all of this. I have no advise to give. I'm really not the type to purge my troubles onto others.
