I would definitely have been annoyed to. Be happy that you gave yourself enough credit to REMEMBER, irregarless of all her negative comments that your HbA1c was GREAT! That you were doing something right. Why cant't doctors and nurses realize that praise works so much better on teaching people than criticism. Praise when people achieve good results and keep your mouth shut when the results aren't so good. The same works well with dog training...... People and dogs - we are so similar! Any how I will tell you that you are doing GREAT!

Kelsey--

I am sorry to hear about this visit for you!  I myself am a type I diabetic and a dietitian.  One thing that I always stress to any diabetic is that your diabetes should fit your lifestyle--not your lifestyle fit your diabetes.  I always tell patients that as long as their blood sugars are in range and they are eating healthily, they can have whatever level of carb intake they choose at meals (of course keeping it out of the extremes of no carbs or 300g of carbs for obvious reasons).  Keep on doing the things you are doing and I know you will continue to be successful!  Good luck with the baby!

When my 15 yr old daughter was diagnosed with type 1, we saw 4 different dieticians. 3 were very flippant. They seemed more concerned with a set formula than listening and looking at where we were. I am glad that the dietician we are now seeing makes sense and treats my daughter instead of following some set formula.
