Happy for your success. I have read so many articles, not to adjust Basal Insulin without your Endo's approval. Did you do this on your own?
Cheers
Joan
Hi Joan,
Yes, I do adjust my basal doses on my own, with my endo's approval. He's comfortable with my judgment and caution so he told me it was okay to adjust as I see fit. I'm doing two doses of Lantus per day, roughly 12 hours apart. My rate was 6 units at each dose, so 12 units per day. I gradually adjusted to 8 units in the morning and 7 units at night for 15 units total per day. It's worked great for me!
You're right though, folks need to check with their doctor before changing any insulin doses on their own.
Thanks for the comment!
