I am a little big confused by this post. You said that your blood sugar after the mini muffins was a little high. but you checked it an hr after you ate! My doctor has told me that you shouldn't correct for a high after you eat unless it has been 2 hrs! it takes that long for your body to fully use the humalog or novolog that you have taken. Maybe this is why your blood sugar when low during your walk. i have a pump it wont even let me correct a higher blood sugar unless it has been 2 hrs. It keeps in mind the insulin on board. I know it is not good for your blood sugar to be high when pregnant but both my endocrinologist (diabetes doctor) and my OB doctor have told me the only blood sugars that they take into consideration when adjusting my insulin rates are the fasting and 2 hrs after I eat!
Hi! Thanks for your comment. I wrote this post a few years ago, so I'm not sure what the exact circumstance was. However, I do sometimes correct my blood sugar an hour post-prandial, if the number is significantly out of range or I expect a high blood sugar to result. I'm trying to maintain very tight blood sugar control during my pregnancies and I'm comfortable managing in a blood sugar range that might be considred "low" for others. If you're having a successfully, healthy pregnancy without correcting anything earlier than 2 hours after a meal, that's great!
