Why do the donors give money to diabetes organizations?

The type 1 diabetes community is comprised of different people from various backgrounds, but the vast majority hold a unified vision – that a cure should be our biggest goal. The JDCA’s latest report focuses on the results of our survey asking for donors to share their reasons for donating to the major diabetes foundations, and 90% cited a cure as a top reason.

 

But is most of the money actually going towards cure research? Not by a long shot. In fact, only 21% of total industry expendiatures are research grants.
