I am a retired sheriff with the Denver County Sheriff Dept. I served almost 24 years. My wife worked with the Denver County Public Schools dealing as an teachers aide for profound disabled students. She worked out here in Menifee, Ca. (about an hour northeast of San Diego) school system with disabled students. She has done this type of work close to 26 years. She has also retired. We have been married 30 years this May 5Th. We have a 28 year old special needs son at home in our senior citizens home in Menifee, Ca. We were called Sun City, but incorporated and are now called Menifee-a combination of 4 towns into one-Menifee. We are involved with our local church. We love to travel, bike and do walks together as a way to get my weight down.I also love to read and we like outdoor gardening since we can do it year round here and watching football or baseball games-preferably in person than on t.v. I was 410 pounds and am now at 290 pounds. I am now on disability due to severe back problems, worsening diabetes, neuropathy and stress issues-but am seeing a stress therapist and was put on PAxil die to my stress, but I fel like I should admit my "issues" and deal with them. I lost weight all the way to 270 pounds, then went back to 320, now am back down to 290, as my blood sugars and A1C started to climb. I am on HBP and chloresterol meds-but have neither one. They say I need to be on them since I am diabetic. My blood pressure runs around 107/73 and my chloresterol runs around 90-95. I am a Viet-Nam veteran. My wife and I want to start doig voulunteer work with perhaps Hospice, peds at a local hospital, etc. We might volunteer to work with the Riverside County-one of the largest counties in the U.S.-since I am retired police officer. We would love to hear from older couples of any race, age, etc. Our Email address is: DSD8906@Msn.Com. We would love to hear from others with similar medical issues or same interests. By the way, my wife has scoliosis. Our son has had 28 surgeries-setting medical history at Denver's Children's Hospital. He has disabilities right now, but should have a normal life span. He is extremely loving and good natured and loves traveling as we do-we never go anywhere without it being the three of us. Have traveled every part of the U.S. except the northeast-which we hope to do this May for about 4 weeks or do more of the northwest-as we haven't seen that much of it. Please write if you care to. Love, Dave & Peggy & Jason Upton
