About Me

I developed Type 1 diabetes 5 years ago. I'm 44 years old. I had 3 spinal surgeries, one after the other, and the doctors think the diabetes is a result of the trauma the surgeries caused to my body. Before I was diagnosed, I went on the South Beach diet, and lost a lot of weight. When I started taking insulin, the weight piled back on, and I can't lose it, no matter what I do. I once broke down in the dr's office, because I am so upset by this. Needless to say, that was very embarassing. My blood sugar is very erratic, no matter what I do, which causes me despair, and causes my physican frustration. I'm so happy to have found a site where people understand, and can empathize,re:diabetes, and where we can all offer each other support.
