...a cell phone that can check your BG. Your kids would never lose it, there could be an app to text the number to the parents. I think it's a million dollar idea. :)
I love it! Someone probably has already thought of it and is developing it for the next iteration of the iphone. BTW, I heard that there is (or in development) a device that can be plugged into your car that will require a blood glucose check before starting the engine. Great for new drivers, don't you think?

Wow! I'm sure parents would love that but maybe not the new drivers. :)
What I really want is an iPhone (or other smart phone) app that let's you take a picture of the plate of food you want to eat and have it figure out the carb count. It's not entirely impossible! Beth
Beth: You are so right! Any one you know that is tight with apple? The only problem is that it would be difficult to know what was actually in the portions (unless that was some how able to be noted).

I bet the device could be "educated" or customized for each user. I don't think the devices are anywhere near smart enough just yet, but maybe in a few years. You might have to put a ruler near the food so the device could figure out how big the plate and the food items are. This is totally out of my field! As a physician you know very well that people can learn how to be good carb counters and to figure out how different food combinations effect their own bodies, but it's uncertain and scary to some people, and many give up too soon. So this carb-counting camera could be a great invention. I'll see if I can figure out if anything is in the works. Beth
I think that would be an awesome idea. I saw something about google a while back. They were trying to create a program that would give you all sorts of information about whatever you took a picture of. I don't think they actually had plates of food in mind, but maybe you could pitch your idea to them. It would sure make my life easier not having to count 2 diabetic children's carbs multiple times each day.
