An interesting topic arose this week in the world of chronic illness. Check out this story, that relates a study on the attitudes toward discussing chronic illness:
"Along with taboo topics such as politics and religion, many Americans are reluctant to discuss managing a chronic illness with family or friends, according to a new survey of more than 1,000 adults."
Amy brought up a great point: She knows more about diabetes than most of her friends and family. Why would she want someone with less expertise putting their two cents in about her diabetes care?
David touched on the same subject a few weeks ago, when he related his experience with trying to help apathetic spouses. The results, he said, were never very impressive.
What do you think -- would you like to talk more about diabetes to your family and friends? Do you wish they were more willing to talk about your illness? Or do they do the opposite, and become the diabetes police?
You tell us. Here.
