Using Raw Foods to Improve Health

By melissa1780 Monday, November 12, 2007

Has anyone on this board seen the trailer for the documentary "Raw for 30 Days" You can watch the trailer at (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trqkWO2gFt8)

It is about six individuals living with Diabetes on a diet consisting mainly of fast food and then switching to a 100% raw food diet. The results they show in the trailer are astounding!

What does everyone think of this idea? Is it someone anyone here has tried before? My mom and grandpa have both developed type two diabetes later in life and I'd like to prevent myself of doing the same. Does eating an all raw diet work?

The homepage for this film is:

Hi Melissa,

I was very intrested when I saw your posting about the raw food diet so I went looking for more information.

I am a big fan of raw fruits and vegetables. In fact I love a good crudite'. But in the study for this movie, these six people not only had diabetes but they lived poor lifestyles, eating very bad junk food diets. My thought is, well of course they have diabetes, look at what the average daily food intake is and not only the amount of food, but the types of food. Even the producer of Super Size me, as fit and healthy as he was, after 30 days of pure mcdonald's was on the verge of heart problems, stroke, etc. It just goes to figure that if these 6 individuals changed their diet, the diabetes would improve and perhaps go away (we all know it never goes away, it just doesn't create as many problems when it's in check)

So while I am sure the raw diet is a good way to detox when you need to change your habits, I am not so sure it's a good long term lifestyle.
