Noah, The Diabetes Dude, is a 9 year old boy with type 1 diabees. He was diagnosed with type 1 when he was six. For the past few years, Noah has been dealing with his diabetes and has become quite an advocate in our local area for diabetes awareness.
A few months ago, Noah started a diabetes awareness campaign that has now gone national! His campaign is called The Flamingo Flock Campaign. Noah "flocks" families with his blue plastic flamingos, each named with a "D" name, and he attaches a note about what his campaign is all about. He asks that people "get out and do something" with his flamingo and send him a picture and a message about what they did with his flamingo. Noah then posts the pictures and messages to his website and also asks participants to "pass it on". Noah's goal is to get at least one flamingo in every state in the US by the end of 2010. He's well on his way, just visit his website, www.thediabetesdude.com. There you can read about his campaign, request a flamingo flock, and even check out his Official Flamingo Tracking Map to see where his flamingos have been spotted!
Noah's hope is to prove to everyone that people with diaebetes, especially kids with diabetes, can do anything they put their mind to!
