DP frustrations

By TimBee Sunday, November 25, 2007

I'm a long term Type I, over 40 years.  despite lots of ups & downs, so far I've had no long term negative consequences that I know of.  the biggest problem I've been wrestling with is dawn phenomena, not just slightly elevated but many times over 250. I'd be happy with 150-175 as morning activity & insulin soon bring it down.

it seems like everything I try works for a while then BOOM it's back.  the docs I've consulted with recommend the pump (which I'm not keen on) or byetta.   I've read the posts & there seem to be so many suggestions . . . where do I start?  wine, nuts, extend bars, vinegar, milk thistle?

Hi TimBee

Dave Mendosa has a good article that talks about dawn phenomena located here  While you can't completely eliminate this condition, there are helpful hints to help control it.

Dr. Bill Quick also addresses the issue in an article located here.  Both of these articles give alot of insight into this issue and offer lots of advice on how to cope.

Stay in touch and let us know how you are doing!
