Diabetes Awareness MonthAre You at Risk for Type 2 Diabetes?

Hypo moment

Two to three hours after a 95carb meal and 44 carb snack which included  no added sugar carrot cake but not sugar free icing.  yeah kind of defeats the purpose, but it was grandson's birthday.  I was feeling weird, dizzy, nauseous, almost pre-migrain aura.  Checked glucose fully expecting the count to be in the 130's.

Surprised to see it return a value of 61.  Took it again, this time 58.  Tested strips against control solution, 132, high but within range.  This is the first time this has registered that low.

Drank a cup of OJ. Waited 30  minutes, 62.

Right now I live alone and if anything happened to me, my   cats would have me for lunch before anyone would come looking.  So I'm trying to get info to know what to do while I can still do it for myself.

So I called the local hospital asking if they thought I needed to come in.  They told me to call my doc or 911. So I called the afterhours line at doc's office, (it's 11pm on Sunday, of course).  Doc on duty grumpily told me 60 is normal, don't tkae my glucophage tonight and to call back in the morning.

So now I'm confused, I thought 68 was the cutoff between normal and too low. How can it be that low after the carb load?

I'm still low, 67, very sleepy, allergies are kicking in.
