There's more to the story behind DDP-IV inhibitors than fewer side-effects. Essentially, they restore the body's ability to regulate glucose levels. It appears they, and Byetta, help restore the pancreas's ability to produce insulin. Byetta-in-a-pill -- a better Byetta. That will have a big impact, if it works out.

I have a question about insurance coverance for Januvia. Background: I have Aetna Administered Insurance. Pharmacy program is Three Tier Open Formulary. The new copay for diabetes drugs and supplies is $5/month if you are enrolled in their diabetes management program. (I am enrolled). Problem: Aetna has not reviewed Januvia and so it is not covered under diabetes drugs. But is covered under the open formulary which means my cost for a month is about $62. Question: What can be done to get Aetna to review Januvia and include it on their list of Diabetes Drugs so that the copay for diabetes drugs will be applied. (Even Byetta is included on the diabetes list) Thanks for any suggestions. clk
