Survive Diabetes Type One, survive kidney failure
Novalog in a pump, and a tremendous list of pills and shots for various complications
Type one diabetes since 1974, caught the flu, ended with type one, sent up to Duke University after eating all the chocolate my teacher sent home for me to sell in 1st grade. Was taught "NO" and learned rebellion to "NO" was the response. Kept diabetes a "secret" from friends and teachers in school all thru high school to my detriment. Was taught weakness is not something to "show" and learned not "showing weakness" cost a lot in the long run. Learned later on in life weakness can actually be a lesson in endurance and strength of character and will in fighting a chronic illness.
