I am a type 1 diabetic who has lived a full 31 year life with this disease and I plan on living many more full and happy years! I recently found that I want to give back more to my diabetic community and help motivate and inspire people with this disease to control it better and live a happy and full life.
I have been told my entire life that I can do anything as long as I plan ahead. I have traveled to over 13 countries and 30 major cities along with over 200 small towns around the world with diabetes and I plan to continue my travels!
In studying the webpages and blogs of the internet, I believe there is a group that is a bit over looked in the diabetic world 20 and 30 something's with or with out kids.
I was first diagnosed at 9 months old, so I am am a 31 guy that has had diabetes for 30 years. I am an avid 12 year insulin pump user with a sensor and I love it! So far so good, no diabetic complications, I am not looking for a medal, but I would wear one if they gave it to me :-)
I am very proud of the way I handle my diabetes and my life. I have been bless with a wonderful, attentive and educated mother and father who did the very best they could and took me to the very best doctors at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. I can not thank my care team enough!
I recently had an ephipany that I need to do more to help others with this disease I want to start camps in my area of North Carolina focusing on healthy activities for diabetics.I want to reach out on the internet and talk with people struggling with the disease. Also, I don't like calling it a disease, it just doesn't sit right with me.
I have been following David Mendosa's webpage and I think it is a fabluous compelation of diabetic knowledge in the internet. I learn something new with every article I read.
I have never done anything like before but I feel like I have a calling and I want to help other diabetics. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks for reading.

I have lived with type 1 for 40 years and also live without complications. This is a great community here, we have a lot of very knowledgeable people and this group is very sharing, so please feel free to jump in and add your voice! Just spent time on the Q&A area, if you want to reach out and help feel free to put in your experience!
You should also turn to twitter, there is a gigantic network of people with diabetes (PWD) and it's fun way to catch up and see what people are doing!
Camps are time consuming so if you are looking for a full time job, then it's a worthy cause. You may want to check out DESA, diabetes exercise and sports association, for possible ideas as well as ADA for camp information. It may lead you to figuring out what you can do that will work.
Social media rocks! Glad to see you joined the party!
And I'm a huge fan of David's too!
Ann, thank you for the support and advice I will look into it!
