Type 1 Diabetes, nutrition, integrated wellness, yoga, running, traveling and trying to keep life simple!
I have lived with juvenile diabetes since I was 5 years old. My parents decided that their goal was to help me be independent and live life without feeling limitations that were not my own. Their guidance, through out my childhood and adulthood, has made me a healthy, happy, vibrant human being! I have a unique perspective on living healthy! My primary school was not a public school, but a Waldorf school in Kimberton, Pennsylvania. Attached to the school was a biodynamic dairy farm, adding 350 acres in which to learn about organic farming practices and the care of the animals that lived there. While most people are just beginning to understand the meaning of organic and homeopathy, I’ve been steeped in the knowledge for 35 years. I’ve been a practicing massage therapist for 20 years. In those 20 years, I have put my skills to the test working in very challenging circumstances, clients range from terminally ill to professional and world-class athletes. I have an insatiable need for knowledge in healing and bodywork. Personally, I nourish myself with combinations of bodywork, yoga, acupuncture, nutrition and a steady diet of traditional medicine, side by side. In offering my own experiences, I hope to offer guidance to others having to make choices for themselves. In addition to owning The Body in Balance Center, I am a board member and outreach chair for the Capitol Chapter of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, helping local families and individuals find resources and community in the DC area. you may find me on twitter: AnnBartlett
