Bringing diabetes to the beach

Summer is over but, during the summer months and going on vacation to hot places, pretty much stinks when you have diabetes, it really gets on my nerves.   The hassle of remembering to bring my meter, extra juice, extra supplies in case my infusion set pops out, lunch, water, testing before you go in the water, testing after you come out... Read moreChevron

Why don't doctors refer people to a pychologist after diagnosis?   I have posted before about all the members of my diabetes team; Endocrinologist, Nutrionist, CDE, even an insulin pump trainer but, I forgot one. A pyschologist. It was... Read moreChevron

Learn to live with diabetes

I thought diabetes was the worst possible thing that has ever happened to me. Honestly. It felt like a nightmare when I got diagnosed. The weeks following my diagnosis were an uphill battle. The numbers (blood sugars) got to me the most and still do. I tried so hard to follow everything my diabetes team told me to do. I ate 6 small meals a... Read moreChevron
