Q: Prescribing Similyn for type 2 diabetics that are not on insulin.

Hi,

My doctor prescribed Similyn for my type 2 diabetes and I am on several oral medications for diabetes, but I'm not on Isulin.  Can you take Similyn without being on Insulin and do you get the same effect?

Do you see an endocrinologist or your primary doctor?  Why did you doctor choose Similyn instead of Byetta for in my research Similyn should be taken with insulin. Check here  https://www.symlin.com/

I would question your doctor as to why he chose Similyn for you. Hopefully one of the doctors here can comment too.

Good luck
