My husband and myself are both diabetics and get our glucometer and strips at Walmart. This is the least expensive we could find. The brand name is Relion. Reply

To meld the previous two answers together, yes, test strips can be prescribed and if you have insurance coverage, may cover all or some of the cost. That being said, I use Relion from Walmart myself as buying them myself is still cheaper than what my deductable would be on others, which usually cost twice as much or more than Walmart's.

I don't want to get all weepy eyed for Walmart, but their Relion Brand really can be a diabetic's best friend when it comes to supplies.

I don't know what city you are from, but there is an online classifieds site called Kijiji (Pronounced Kee-gee-gee). It has online classifieds from people selling just about everything and it is separated by individual cities. I have had three replies from people who are selling boxes of my types of test strips for about $20 (YES, NOT 80-100, BUT $20) in my city.

Maybe someone in your city has some to sell. Logging on to the Kijiji adds is free, and there are no strings attached. Good luck.

Contact www.abbottdiabetescare.com

In addition to my insurance they issued me a card and I pay only $15.00 for 50.  I used to pay 25.00 for 50 so this helps.
